Come, explore the Land of the Bible with us from February 14—24, 2020. These ten days will enrich your relationship with God, increase your understanding of the earthly life of Jesus as never before, and improve how you read and understand the Bible…forever! What you will learn? This tour will introduce you to the geography, history, and archaeology of Israel. After traveling through the land of the Bible, you will grow in your understanding of how ancient peoples lived and worshipped. We visit biblical sites in nearly every corner of Israel and engage the biblical text in the field using maps, reference material, and teaching. What you will do? You will follow the ministry of Jesus from Galilee to Jerusalem by sailing on the Sea of Galilee, stepping into the synagogues where He taught and healed, and visiting key sites from His last week, such as, the Upper Room, the Garden of Gethsemane, and the likely place of His crucifixion, burial and resurrection. You will explore archaeological ruins from the time of Abraham to the time of Jesus and gaze onto the battlefields of David and Goliath and the Battle of Armageddon.

Day 1Friday, 14.02.2020

Arrival in the Holy Land: Arrive Ben Gurion International Airport where you will be greeted by John, Doro, Hesedyah and Yocheved Black and your bus driver. Bus departs from the airport at 4:00pm and drives to the Sea of Galilee.

Day 2Saturday, 15.02.2020

Sea of Galilee: Wake up to a sunrise on the Sea of Galilee where Jesus walked on water and calmed the storm. We begin our tour in Jesus’ backyard by visiting sites connected to His Galilean ministry, including sailing the same waters in a first century replica boat. Sites include: Arbel Cliffs, Capernaum, Mt. Beatitudes, Chorazim, Magdala, Sea of Galilee.

Day 3Sunday, 16.02.2020

Northern Israel—Huleh Basin, Golan: Today we explore beautiful northern Israel where we seek to understand the significance of Jesus’ question, “Who do people say that I am?” At the Dan Nature Reserve, we will explore the incredible archaeological remains of the Old Testament city of Dan, including the city gate from the time of Abraham, as we reflect upon ancient Israel’s apostasy. After climbing the magnificent Golan Heights to view Israel’s highest mountain, Mt. Hermon, the likely site of the Transfiguration of Jesus, and the area of the road to Damascus where the Apostle Paul met the Lord, we will discuss the strategic significance of the Golan to Israel’s security, both ancient and modern. Sites include: Caesarea Philippi, Hazor, Dan, Mt. Bental.

Day 4Monday, 17.02.2020

Jezreel Valley, Sharon Plain: Today we travel west toward the Mediterranean Coast. Our first stop will be the well-preserved ruins of the Herodian city of Caesarea Maritima, the location from which Paul left the shores of Israel for Rome. Next, we ascend Mt. Carmel to a spot near where Prophet Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal. We descend into the Jezreel Valley to the ancient site of Megiddo, the assembly point for the armies marching to the battle of Armageddon. Sites include: Megiddo, Mt. Carmel, Caesarea .

Day 5Tuesday, 18.02.2020

Jordan Rift Valley: Today we leave the Galilee and journey south down the spectacular Syrian African Rift Valley to the Dead Sea in the arid Judean wilderness. Our first stop will be one possible location for Jesus’ baptism on the Jordan River before arriving at Qumran, the site of the most exciting archaeological discovery ever made in Israel—the Dead Sea Scrolls. Our last site will be David’s oasis hide-out of Ein Gedi where he hid as a fugitive from King Saul and sliced off a piece of his robe. Sites include: Baptism site, Qumran, Ein Gedi.

Day 6Wednesday, 19.02.2020

Dead Sea: We will spend our morning at Masada, Herod the Great’s magnificent fortress palace in the desert. Perched above the Jordan Rift Valley, we will contemplate the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and Jesus’ wilderness temptation. After lunch, you will have time to enjoy a float in the therapeutic mineral rich waters of the Dead Sea. Sites include: Masada, Dead Sea.

Day 7Thursday, 20.02.2020

Negev, Shephelah: Today we climb west out of the Syrian African Rift Valley to visit ancient sites in the regions of the Negev and the Shephelah before ending our day in the City of the Great King, Jerusalem. We will learn how and why both of these regions served as practical borders of ancient Israel as we dive into the lives of Abraham and David. Sites include: Beersheba, Lachish, Azekah JERUSALEM NIGHT TOUR – Haas Promenade, Western Wall, Mamilla.

Day 8Friday, 21.02.2020

Jerusalem: We begin our time in Jerusalem at the City of David, where finds from as early as 4,500 B.C. were discovered. We will have a chance to walk through Hezekiah’s Tunnel before sitting by the Pool of Siloam. We then proceed to the excavations near the base of the Temple Mount and sit on the Southern Steps where Jesus walked and taught. Afterward, we will visit the Western Wall Plaza, Judaism’s most holy site. Sites include: City of David, Southern Excavations, Western Wall Plaza.

Day 9Saturday, 22.02.2020

Jerusalem: We begin our day with a panoramic overlook of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, the site of Jesus’ ascension to heaven and His future second coming. We will walk down the Mount of Olives to Gethsemane, cross the Kidron Valley, and enter the Old City through Stephen’s Gate, stopping to examine the remains of the Pools of Bethesda. From here we walk to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the most likely site of the burial and resurrection of Jesus. We end our day with a reflective time at a site that wonderfully illustrates Jesus’ burial and resurrection, the peaceful Garden Tomb. Sites include: Mt. Olives, Garden of Gethsemane, Kidron Valley, Stephen’s and Damascus Gates, Pools of Bethesda, Holy Sepulcher, Garden Tomb. *Special Guest: Joel C. Rosenberg will join us for the evening.

Day 10Sunday, 23.02.2020

Jerusalem: An early start will take us up to the Temple Mount (conditions permitting), where we’ll consider some of Jesus’ activities there. We will make our way through the Jewish Quarter of the Old City to see significant archaeological finds that tell some of her story from the time of Hezekiah to the Byzantine Christians 300 years after Christ. We will pass through Zion Gate on our way to the Upper Room where Jesus ate His last supper and the Holy Spirit descended upon the first disciples. Sites include: Temple Mount, Jewish Quarter, Mt. Zion, Upper Room, Zion Gate.

Day 11Monday, 24.02.2020

Today, we say our goodbyes and depart for Ben Gurion International Airport for your departure to the USA.

Not included: Airfare, visas (free for U.S. citizens), Travel Insurance; lunches, snacks, special drinks at meals (wine, beer, carbonated drinks); tips (Driver, Guide, Hotels); individual activities on free times; individual transfers to/from airport apart from the main group; wheelchairs; personal discretionary spending.

Air Travel
Because many are members of frequent flyer programs and are able to secure more affordable rates through their program, it is the participants’ responsibility to secure air travel to/from Ben Gurion International Airport.

* Please Note: The bus will depart from Ben Gurion International airport at 4:00 pm on Friday, February 14, 2020. On Monday, February 24, 2020, the bus will transfer the group from the hotel in Jerusalem to the airport. Please arrange your flight accordingly. You should allow for a minimum of 90 minutes after the plane lands to move through passport control, baggage claim, and customs.

Travel Insurance
It is mandatory for each participant to have travel insurance to cover medical costs or trip cancellations. Participants are responsible for securing travel insurance on their own.

The trip is physically demanding
Although you will be transported by bus from site to site, you will hike up hills and walk for extended periods of time over uneven steps and terrain. This trip cannot generally accommodate those who have significant difficulty with climbing stairs or walking a half a mile at a time. Please be in contact with the John and Doro Black if you have concerns about this.

The trip is limited
The trip is limited to a maximum of 50 participants.
